Lucy Kaplansky (natural February 2, 1960) is a New York City-based folk musician.
Kaplansky was originally from either Chicago, but at a age of Eighteen, decided does'nt to attend college, & moved to New York City. She became included in the city's folk music scene, particularly in the area of Greenwich Village, where she played by having, among others, Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin and Richard Shindell.
Inside 1983, she decided to become the psychologist, enrolling within New York University. She continued swimming music when doing her PhD, & began to stand the select few profits when a share of a duo sustaining Colvin. Yet, after it began to attract record company interest, Kaplansky declined, finding instead to install the personal practice & get the staff psychologist at the Up to date York hospital. For many years, she concentrated largely in her function, & played little in the way of concerts. however, she still did a few session act, like singing backing vocals in the studio for Suzanne Vega.

Within 1998 Kaplansky joined with Dar Williams and Richard Shindell to form the folk class action Cry Cry Cry, which made an album & toured eventually prior to running their separate ways.
